>> it is a wet thursday morning and the macarthur maze is looking wet with light rain. just lurking off to the west you can see live doppler 7 hd picking up some moderate rain

and this will move just to the north of the macarthur maze if you are coming from berkeley or emeryville and headed to the macarthur maze you will run into heavy rain and possibly ponding. the picture from san rafael shows everything is starting to taper just a little bit with the heavy rain headed toward novato and over 37 to the raceway. to milpitas along 680 it is starting to clear up a little bit with the moderate rain moving into the hills and as we look toward the peninsula, palo alto and the next 10 or 15 messages in newark at 25 minutes you will see a rise in your rainfall rates with another band of moderate rain moving to the northeast. you can see the back edge of had and we have the steady rain through 7:00 and it becomes scattered showers by noon and an isolated shower is possible this afternoon. leyla gulen has the traffic. >> we have been tracking this from the moment it happened in oak, and it turns into a sig-alert with all lanes blocked

for a time and two lanes have re-opened and northbound 880, at high street, that is where we are seeing an accident with a second accident occurring south of there and you are looking at 9 miles per hour so creeping along there, as you make it northbound, at broadway, we had road flooding that almost caused a big rig to crash so be careful out here where you can see lots of blue and heavy downpours and eastbound 4, beyond the road we have another accident out there and take a look at this it is slammed and moving at eight miles per hour so keep the speeds slow. >> coming up on 6:16. a bay area electric car company tesla motors is opening their new show room today and the mercury news reports they are these times larger than the previous location and it is in the space previously occupied by a burberry store.

in the south bay. we have light-to-moderate rain here and more just down to the southwest that is coming your way so you are not out of the woods. steady rain through the morning hours and scattered showers this afternoon and a slight chance of a scattered shower friday, saturday, and sunday. katie has more news. >> new this morning, just-released jobs report shows the economy added 100,000 jobs in march but it is still considered a disappointment. payroll giant adp says private businesses added 158,000 jobs and appear lists predicted 205,000. the official march jobs report comes out tomorrow, and economists say the country needs to add at least 300,000 jobs each month for a full recovery. >> in health news, specific the number of americans suffering from dementia to skyrocket over the next 30 years, that is according to a just-released study from the rand corporation that says right new nearly 15

also made of super absorbent material are larger and were recalled last year. this after an 8-year-old swallowed one and rushed to the hospital and doctors could not see anything on the x-ray but in surgery they removed a ball 1.5" in diameter from the small intestine. >> if nothing were done, she would have had significant infection and could have possibly died. >> consumer reports examined the recalled water ball. >> this is fresh from the package and this is identical ball that has been soaked for two days. >> consumer reports looked at the beads that are still on the market including this one. they full size and it is smaller than the banned water balls but consumer reports say they also pose a safety hazard for small children. >> the product looks like candy or gum and they can expand enough in a few hours to block

the airway or intestine. >> they carry warnings saying now for children under three, on the beige it says not suitable for children under the age of five. >> additional injuries have future been documented in the united states, several have been reported in other countries including one fatality. >> all types of aroundant balls have been banned in italy and malaysia. >> we are found in toys but in decorations. we urge strongly that parents keep the products out of the reap of small children. consumer product safety commission is investigating the balls and beads and this company who has smaller beads say their test show it is safe if children five and older. they say the balls should pass through their digestive track but consumer reports points out the company did not address a choking hazard or potential of a

this is how san jose look the at 87 at the pavilion where the light rain returned. here is live doppler 7 hd showing further to the west we have heavy rain around santa clara. this is heavier rain moving across 82 toward sunnyvale and mountain view to cupertino so keep the umbrella handy. you will need them as the rain continues in the next half hour. we have two hour flight arrival delays into sfo. the light rain is falling. as we zoom out, most of the yellows are tapering, that is the more moderate rain causing the ponding and flooding that leyla gulen will talk about. the back edge of the steady rain is starting to get close to the coast and that 7:00 to 9:00 timeframe to see the transition from steady to scattered showers will play out. so we will deal with that for the rest of the commute. if the steady rain starts and

>> happening now in san francisco, tight security surrounds the intercontinental hotel. president obama is waking up there following several fundraiser last night. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us live from the hotel with a busy day ahead raising more money. cornell? >> good morning, eric. this is all about raising money for the democratic party. this morning, the president heads to atherton for cash call. this is a shot of 4th at san francisco where barricades are set up around the intercontinental hotel where the president is staying. lots of police barricades and secret service. he arrived on air force one on wednesday and went directly to political fundraisers in sea cliff then in pacific heights at the getty mansion where 75 guests paid $35,000 for a chance to mingle with the president but blocks away there remain demonstrators, protesting opposition to the proposed

police say one of their officers shot and wounded an armed robbery suspect as he refused to stop reported before 10:00 last night open clay street near 10th. officers saw three people matching the description of the suspect about a block away at jefferson and 10th. miss say they tried to stop them and one of officers shot one of the suspects. the injuries are not life threatening and the officer was not hurt. >> an east bay preschool where a teacher is accused of binding the feet and hands of a student who what not take a nap. the administration says a substitute teacher reportedly pinched and squeezed a child's arm. the incident happened in february before the incident where a student's happeneds and teach were bound with tape because she would not sleep. the school confirmed this in a e-mail reading in part and i quote, "it is unknown when the incident occurred. it was alleged to have happened in the month of february of

>> here we are looking at san rafael, 101 right there is wet as we have light rain falling and some moderate rain from time to time. this area continues to be pelted by southwest wins. the natural scene of mountains in the north bay is creating the heavy rain. petaluma and down to novato you will see an increase in the wet weather there. we have heavier showers showing up in benicia toward vallejo and that will head up 80 and 680 to fairfield. those are the hot spots. we will have steady rain through the next 20 minutes and it will transition to scattered showers through noon and the shower chance will taper but it is there in the afternoon and lesser into the evening hours. as we head through friday, saturday, and sunday the storm track moves north with a few drifts possible on friday, a shower chance on saturday and sunday and especially in the

north bay. leyla gulen? >> as we head back to oakland we had a sig-alert which has canceled and we have another accident northbound 880 which has seen plenty of slowing because of the early two accidents. we have travel times heading out of antioch to concord it is half an hour and same deal on 880, after hand hour between highway 238 to oakland and 101 at 25 minutes to go between 85, and down to highway 237 and here is a live look at san mateo bridge and plenty of traffic out there with wet roads and we are not seeing any crashes. plenty of tail lights at foster city and a nice clear condition. >> 6:41. only on abc7 news a popular annual event in san francisco turned tragic when a spectator was seriously injured during the bring your own big wheel race.

the 45-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury when she walked in front of a race participant whose could not avoid her. she fell to the ground after the crash. she was rushed to the hospital and had emergency surgery. neighbors say organizers have done a good job of safety for the participants by installing bal." s to separate the spectators. >> trading is underway on wall street with a look at the big board showing where the dow is and it is up 35 points after a triple-digit loss yesterday. we will go live to jane king at the new york stock exchange. >> grocery troubles for walmart, products they can not keep on store shelfs and how they

>> thank you, jane. mike nicco is here now watching the wet weather hit the bay area. >> still causing two hour flight arrival delays at sfo but san jose and oakland are okay and we have yellow in the north bay, you can see headed toward the 12 core store through sonoma, and north of there and leaded to american canyon, that is where we have the boater radar returns and pulling away from 680, and toward bay point, we are seeing some of the better radar runs and as we pull out look at that, the coast and peninsula are seeing a decrease in the intensity of the rain. still, light rain for all of us the next couple of hours. the macarthur maze shows it is raining here right now, with temperatures running from 51 to 54 from san francisco, oakland, san jose, walnut creek, palo alto and mill valley and san mateo bridge, easier to see than

it was a few minutes ago, you can see a decrease in the light rain here and temperatures in santa rosa, napa, forward, livermore, and union city, between 50 and 53 degrees. it looks like we are going through steady rain right now from 7:00 until 9:00 and it will transition over to scatter the showers and they will taper as we head through the afternoon and the evening hours. we still have a slight chance of a shower in the north bay for friday, saturday, sunday, and monday, the storm track will be just close enough to graze us with a storm or two headed to the four-day period and when that passed we have spring warmth the temperatures today are going to be in the low-to-mid 60's and our shield becomes scattered but still a pocket of two of light rain possible. tonight, just mainly clouds and drizzle and temperatures in the upper 40's to low 50's and patchy fog for the commute. here is what is happening, the steady heavy rain moving away by 9:00 and scatter showers
